GOLF COSTA ADEJE - RABBITS SOCIETY - RULES

INTRODUCTION

The Golf Costa Adeje Rabbits Society is a Multi National Golf Society based at the Los Lagos "C" course. The Society plays on some Thursdays and every Saturday. The Aim of the Society is to provide a friendly, competitive and challenging environment for players with higher handicaps. Membership is at the discretion of the Society Committee.

1. Committee Members

The current Committee Members are: Captain/Secretary/Treasurer - Matt Matthews. Vice Captain (duties as per Captain) - Peter Yates. Assistant Vice Captain/Tresurer - Les Spencer.

Members are elected by ballot and confirmed at the Annual General Meeting held each October. They shall remain in office for a period of 12 Months unless they resign or are voted out at an Extra Ordinary General Meeting. A 2/3 (Two Thirds) majority vote is required by Members to confirm/remove a Committee Member for/from Office.

2. Membership Application - Membership Fees

Potential Society Members will be required to play 3, 18 hole rounds on Saturdays (as guests) with a member of the Committee prior to a decision by the Committee to accept application. The Committee's decision is final. A written application, to a member of the Committee will be required together with a copy of current Handicap Certificate.

An initial joining fee of 50€ (junior member under 16, 25€) shall be payable by all new members. This initial cost will include the provision of the appropriate Society "T" Shirt. Thereafter, the annual renewal fee is 25€ (juniors 15€) payable by the last day in February. Where a Member does not pay the appropriate renewalfee by the prescribed date, they will be considered to have exercised their right to terminate their Membership. Members who join after 1st July will not be liable to renewal in the next year, but the one after. Replacement "T" Shirts are available at the current price of 15€ each.

3. Booking In To Play - Cancellations

Booking in to play is the responsibility of individuals. Individuals are to ensure that they have requested a play slot from the respective organiser for either the Thursday or Saturday. For Thursday this request must be made by 12:00 noon on the preceding Tuesday. For a Saturday, by 12:00 noon the preceding Thursday.

The Society benefits from concessionary rates. All Tee Times and Buggy's have to be booked. Where an individual cancels a booking for either a Tee Time or a Buggy, after the cut off time, He/She will be liable for the appropriate payment if the Tee Time or Buggy cannot be filled. Where a Member has invited a Guest that Member shall be liable for the Guest fees should they fail to cancel. Society Members ONLY are entitled to the Concessionary Rates. Guests will pay the going rate. Junior Members playing with an Adult play free but will pay 1/2 share of a buggy if used. If play slots exceed vacancies priority will be given to Society Members. Cancellation of any Tee Time will be at the discretion of the Captain of the day.

4. Course Etiquette

Society Members and Guests are respectfully requested to adhere to normal golf etiquette at all times. In addition, the following standards are to be observed:

Abusive Language. Inappropriate use of abusive language is not acceptable either on the course or in the club house.

General Noise. Please respect other players and keep noise to a minimum. Particular care should be taken when using buggy's, it is courteous to stop buggy's when other players are teeing off, playing a stroke or putting. The Committee may, at their discretion, fine, suspend or ban members for breaches of etiquette.

5. Club Tee Shirts

The official Rabbits Society "T" Shirt is to be worn at all home and away Rabbits Society events. The Rabbits Society "T" Shirt must not be worn at non Rabbits Society events. Gentlemen, "T" Shirt tucked into shorts please. Non compliance may incur the loss of 1 handicap point.

6. Competition - Prizes

Competitions will be arranged by popular request or by Committee. In any competition the final decision on prizes will be at the discretion of the Committee or the Captain of the day.

Cash prizes, accrued by weekly subscription, currently 7€ per week (optional) will be based on:

1-7 players - 1 winner.
8-11 players - 1st, 2nd place.
12 and above players, 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

There may also be prizes for Nearest the Pin, Longest Drive and Magic 2's and any other challenge as agreed. 10% of the subscription per week will be placed into central funds for Society maintenance/functions. Hole In 1 kitty's will hold a maximum of 100€. Only Society Members (PAID UP TO DATE) are eligible to claim Cash or Hole In 1 prizes. Guests and Juniors may pay a proportionate fee and play in Nearest the Pin, Longest Drive and Magic 2's and any other challenges, as agreed on the day,(optional). Junior Members cannot claim cash prizes (except NP,LD M2's), they cannot claim hole in 1 cash prizes.

7. Local Rules

In addition to any Local Rules put into place by Golf Costa Adeje, the Rabbits Society Committee may introduce additional Local Rules as appropriate.

8. Completion of Score Cards-Play Groups

The Rabbits Society use a pre-printed score card for Stableford Competitions. Individual players are responsible for ensuring that the following columns are completed following a competition and prior to handing into the Day's Captain: Gross Shots, Stableford Points, and Players Final Score. They are also required to sign their card together with the marker. Incorrectly completed score cards may incur Disqualification (DQ). All players must agree the Stableford score prior to leaving a green. Score cards should then be completed at the next Tee, not in front of the green just played. Play Groups will be drawn by the Captain of the Day; they will be drawn to ensure a frequent mixture of players. Groups will not change without consent of the Captain of the Day.

9. Championship Days - Social Events

Championship Days will be held as agreed by Members or the Committee, and will normally be followed by an evening social function and prize giving. The Society strongly advocates participation in the social events. On Championship Days, in order to qualify for any competition prize, individuals are required to attend the evening function. The composition of Championship Days will be decided prior to the event.

10. Handicap System

The Rabbits Society has a purchased, Licensed copy of a software program "Handicap Master" CONGU. CONGU is the Registered Trademark of the Council of National Golf Unions. After each competition an adjustment is made to handicaps by comparing a players score with baseline score for the top 3rd scores. This baseline is called the "Competition Scratch Score" (CSS). Players who better the baseline will have their handicap reduced, whilst those who score higher will have their handicaps increased. The program is set in this manner to cater for the very wide range of playing handicaps within the Society, therefore ensuring that all levels of competence are catered for in line with the Society aim to cater for "Higher Handicappers". The handicap system is adjustable to for any course played by the Society.

11. Disputes-Complaints-Grievances-Suggestions-Interpretation

Any Member who has a legitimate Dispute, Complaint, Grievance or Suggestion should put such in writing to a Member of the Committee for a decision. The decision of the Committee shall be final. Anyone requiring interpretation of these Rules should ask a Member of the Committee who will be pleased to assist. A copy of these rules, signed by each Member of the Committee, is held by the incumbent Captain. A copy will also be available on the Notice Board at the Los Lagos Casa.
